Get Involved

Each spring we carry out an annual audit of the Public Rights of Way in and around Coleford to ensure that accessibility is maintained.

We regularly post to social media so you can keep tab on what we are up-to and dates when we would really appreciate local support in carrying out a variety of work.

Working directly with the PRoW Officer for our patch we look to make improvements to accessibility where possible. This includes the replacement of stiles with kissing gates; understandably removing stiles from farm land is not always possible so we ensure they are sturdy for use.

If you walk along these paths and see any minor work that is needed, please let us know, our volunteers can pop along and have a look. If it’s something we can fix then we will or we will report it to Gloucester Highways. Bigger issues and blocked access should be reported to Gloucester highways directly through the following link: https://www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/highways/public-rights-of-way/report-a-problem/

What we Do

Our aim is to work towards being:

  • attractive for walkers with excellent information on local walks
  • ensure that footpaths and facilities for walkers are maintained, improved and well signposted
  • contribute to local tourism plans and regeneration strategies
  • promote the health benefits of walking and increase participation
  • encourage the use of public transport
  • to encourage our community to get involved with all things walking and to have a say in what the group does
